Study habits and the way you chose to study can help improve your memory overall and make you retain the information much better than usual. The way I studied for the first exam in our psych class was by reading through the notes, and creating flash cards with key terms from the chapters. I also filled out the study guide and read over that many times. After researching good study habits, researchers say that reading through your notes can be one of the word ways to improve memory. Researchers also said just reading through your notes rarely increases your results but will show a decrease in the results of your test. I also procrastinate a lot which leads me to waiting till the last minute to study for my exams. Another great way to study is by spreading out your studying. This means spending time studying for 30-60 minutes per day instead of cramming all of your studying into one night. Another great study habit for improving memory is by chunking things out. If you have a large chapter to cover, it is best to read through it completely a few times then begin to process the information in smaller pieces. I believe my study habits are not the best, but for second exam I will imply new study habits that will help improve my memory for the information on the test.
